Hopefully, this introductory video will help some new retail investors who are considering investing in biotech companies who do not te have an approved drug, to understand the importance that clinical trials need to play in their investing decisions.

Meet Bright Minds: The NEXT GEN Psychedelics Company Tackling Pain, Depression and MORE (DRUG/BMBIF)
In today’s episode of the Psychedelic Spotlight Podcast, James Hallifax from the Psychedelic Investor YouTube Channel interviews Ian McDonald, CEO of Bright Minds BioScience. For any investors out there, Bright Minds ticker symbol is DRUG on the Canadian CSE and BMBIF on the American OTC market.
In this wide ranging interview many topics are covered, starting with the philosophy and vision of Bright Minds. Bright Minds is a company working on second and third generation psychedelics to treat a variety of ailments including depression, PTSD, epilepsy, addiction and more. The driving philosophy is that while classic psychedelics such as psilocybin and LSD do show great potential to be used in a therapy setting to treat mental health issues, the compounds also have limitations.
At Bright Minds, the goal is to engineer completely new compounds, often based on the structure of classical psychedelics, that keep the benefits of said drugs while doing away with potential negatives. Important to note is that while psychedelic derived drugs are a focus of the company, they also are creating non-psychedelic compounds for a variety of ailments, including different forms of addiction.
In the interview we discuss most of Bright Minds’ major projects, including using new psychedelic medicines to treat chronic pain. This is exciting, since it could not only help people with chronic pain issues such as fibromyalgia, but it could also put a dent in the opioid use crisis by preventing people from being prescribed opioids by their doctors to treat pain.
I had a blast in this interview, and I know you will find it fascinating! Enjoy!

Meet the Next-Gen Psychedelic Treating Alcoholism | Is this the Future of Addiction Treatment?
In today’s episode of PsycBiz, James —the Psychedelic Investor— sits…
Scientists Create A New DMT: Can it Treat Depression? | Psychedelic Therapy
Scientists Create A New DMT: Can it Treat Depression? | Psychedelic Therapy
When it comes to treating mental health conditions with psychedelic therapy, one of the most promising compounds is DMT, the main ingredient in the brew ayahuasca. While DMT may have many potential advantages over other similar compounds such as psilocybin, for example, its short duration of effect, the hallucination can be very intense.
It is an open question whether the mental health benefits we see from psychedelic therapy are due to the experience one undergoes when having a hallucination, or whether it comes strictly from the drug’s effects on the brain. If it is the latter, then hypothetically speaking, we could create a version of DMT that does not cause a hallucination.
Enter Psilera Biosciences.
Psilera is a psychedelic medicines company working to create next-generation psychedelics for use in therapeutic settings. Specifically, they aim to create non-psychedelic versions of classical psychedelics such as psilocybin, LSD and DMT.
PSIL-002 is Psilera’s version of non-hallucinogenic DMT. They recently completed a pre-clinical trial in mice that showed that their version of DMT was safe and non-psychedelic. Now they have to show that their version of DMT can treat depression and addiction, starting with alcoholism.
If Psilera’s DMT can treat these mental health conditions equally as well as regular DMT, but without the intense hallucination, then PSIL-002 would probably be the better compound.
It is exciting to see Psilera’s scientists working on answering the following questions:
Can DMT treat depression?
Can psychedelics help with depression?
Can psychedelics help with Mental Health?

Meet MindMed’s Interim CEO: Robert Barrow | My First Impressions & Comments
MindMed’s Interim CEO, Robert Barrow, has not made as many public appearances as opposed to MMED’s previous CEO, Jr Rahn.
As many of you know, almost two months ago, then MindMed’s CEO, JR Rahn, announced that he was stepping down, and he would be replaced immediately by Robert Barrow, then Chief Development Officer.
Since then, we have not had a lot of news from the company, and though we have heard from Barrow on previous Conference Calls, us the retail investors, have not had a chance to meet the man (at least digitally) as CEO yet.
That changed on August 3rd, when MNMD held a “fireside chat” over Zoom with Barrow, where we got to know him a little better, and he provided us with some new information.
In this video, we will play the most important clips and offer some commentary where necessary.
Enjoy the episode!
