Salem, Massachusetts Ends Arrests for Psilocybin Mushrooms

Salem just became the sixth Massachusetts city in the United States to end arrests for psilocybin mushrooms.
Bay Staters for Natural Medicine, a grassroots coalition, delivered a presentation to a gathering of over 60 lawmakers and their staff on Tuesday, advocating for legislation that proponents believe holds the potential to provide much-needed relief to individuals grappling with addiction and mental health challenges.

“Therapists, psychiatrists, and neurologists are afraid to discuss psychedelics with their patients. When we get this bill out of the Judiciary Committee, it will give these professionals the space they need to educate without fearing reprisal in their career,” remarked James Davis, who led efforts to pass psychedelic decriminalization measures across six Massachusetts cities.
